I had always dreamed of starting my own nonprofit. Since childhood, I was drawn to helping those around me. What started initially with being my older brothers protector, due to his disabilities, evolved to providing food and items to the local homeless. Years later when I moved to Central Florida, I worked with Animal Control, which allowed me to see a side of the City Beautiful many don’t like to speak about. Scenes of broken homes, addiction, recidivism, abuse, neglect, and homelessness made me ask myself, ‘What can I do?’ I knew I couldn’t change the world on my own, but I could be the change I wanted to see in my community.
Even with my own personal obstacles to overcome, my faith in God and in myself never wavered. What started with me driving around town with a box of items such as socks and toiletries to hand out to individuals whenever I could, I finally made the decision in April 2021 to open A Little Love nonprofit, something I had never done before, in an effort to make a bigger impact in our community.
I want to help those who want to improve their situation but don’t know who or where to turn to. I want to be an advocate and protector for those in need. No one is perfect, and I believe everyone deserves a second chance regardless of who they are. In the end, we all deserve a little love.
